OH TO BE WITH HIM!
For the last few days, God by His mercy has been calling me to the place of intimacy with Him. I have found myself just seated in the office most of the times, no music but enjoying His presence, in a matatu but overwhelmed by Him, not because I am so good, or I pray so much...no...it is by His mercy. During this period, I have come to realize that as much as I long for Him as the deer pants for the water, (Psalm 42:1 As the hart pants and longs for the water brooks, so I pant and long for you o God) God is also desiring me even the more. His desire is us and He daily longs for us to be found in Him. And every moment you are drawn to the Lord, you get to experience the great love of Jesus.
There is this day my pastor gave us a benediction at the end of the service and his words were, 'I pray that this week you will live in the presence of God by the presence of God.' Whoa! This sunk in my spirit and there I prayed that it shall be so in my life. You see, as long as you have God daily, the highest possibility is that you will daily be found in His presence because His presence is the surest way to live by His presence. There has to be a longing in your heart and spirit for you to be able to live this. God wants our hearts to be captivated by Jesus, by the love of the lamb that was slain. He desires that you and I become like Mary in Luke 10:39 ...and she had a sister named Mary, who seated herself at the Lords feet and was listening to His teaching who was willing to let go all other pre-occupations just to be with the Lord Jesus, in a crowded noisy place, this young lady chose Jesus. Unlike her sister Martha, she was not overly occupied and busy preparing a sacrifice for the Lord but became the sacrifice before Him. Oh to be with Jesus! I pray that even as you read through, the love of God will spread abroad your heart and He will become your desire because dear reader, Jesus is too beautiful to look away from, He is to behold! and we are called to be captivated by Him.
Jesus is greater than any gift He can give you, He is so much more desirable than the anointing on you, His person is beautiful. He is to be gazed upon!He loves it! but one thing that happens is that it is your love for Him that will draw you to Him, it is love that will make you desire intimacy with Him. To love Him unfailingly, you must see Him constantly because He is the embodiment of love. As you draw nigh, He draws nigh. He does not just stand and watch you come, as you pursue Him, His pursuit also is you .❤ (James 4:8...Draw night to God, and He will draw nigh to you) His presence is EVERYTHING and once you come to encounter Him, His person, you begin to realize He is all you have ever needed, if only our pursuit was Jesus, we would have Him! His heart beats for us, but the problem is you have not given Him your attention. Your desire is not Him truly. Some of us find ourselves obsessed with the gifts He gives us, so attached to the things He has given us and we forget about Him the giver, we are always in a hurry to leave His presence because there is just so much that we need to work on, some of us tend to believe that we can only encounter the Lord in church. If only, we would stop being busy for God and begin making room for intimate moments with Jesus.
God is jealous for us and He longs to have us every moment our lives. That we may be among them that is said, they sought the Lord in their day and found Him. We just need to be desperate for Him and want Him and be satisfied by nothing else other than Him.It is by walking in and before the presence of God that your life is perfected. It is to those people that desire Him that God clefts a rock for them....in a place near Him and causes them to encounter His presence which translates them, literally leaves them undone and never the same again. (Exodus 33:18-23 The response of God to show me your glory is I will cause my goodness to pass in-front of You!) Moses at this point of asking God to show him His glory had been talking to God 40 days and nights but it was not enough for Him. There is more into God than we know, if only we would be desiring to know Him and dive deeper. Jesus just want you to seek Him, you will find Him for sure.
Look at Matthew 26:7 a woman comes with an alabaster box and pours it on Jesus...ALL OF IT! and what beautifies this scenario is not just that she gave an expensive thing and all she had that time, what is more beautiful is that the room was filled with the fragrance. The sweet intimate moment she was having with Jesus affected the whole room. Your intimacy with Jesus will affect people, because the love of Him will be filled withing you. Dear reader, what you need to give out to have Him understand that it is expensive, it may be everything you have and own, but till you have nothing you are holding on to, till you give out everything, you will not have Him who is everything! One thing that happens when you gaze upon Him is that you will not just stand in awe of Him but adoration breaks from within you, you cannot help it but worship,you begin to see how worthy He is to receive honor, power, glory and majesty. Like David said I pray that this too shall be our earnest desire Psalm 27:4 The one thing I ask of the Lord- the thing I seek most is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and seek Him in His temple.
Every experience you will have with Him, will intensify by day, they will be different and one other thing that will happen is that you will be filled with more awe of the Lord, you will see your life transform, holiness will be what you daily pursue and perfect righteousness daily. But one caution, when you reach to this point, remember that it is by mercy that you can stand and live in His presence, do not get used to them, never come to think that they are obvious and never take this experiences for granted.
As I bring this to a halt for now, dear reader, Reach for the heart of Jesus!Pursue Him! Do not settle for what He gives you and miss out on who is! You will be distinguished and set apart by the fact that you are always with Him. If any man or woman hungers, If any man or woman thirsts, them He will fill! I pray that there shall be so much hunger in you for the courts of the Lord, for the Lord Himself and that you will not recover from it!
