FAITH

Am going to my third year in campus and this far, I have seen God and indeed through my campus life, I have learnt to have faith in Jesus and to take Him at His very Word. When I was just about to join campus, I had issues in getting a school and when I finally got to settle, it was a private university. I had prayed about it and was quite sure that was where God wanted me to be but the issue was I did not have even 1/4 of the fees that was required. So, I decided to have a conversation with God, I asked Him why He took me to a place He knew we could not afford and all He said was trust Me. Okay, I chose to wait on God and sure He came through for me and we got 3/4 of the fees and I was allowed to read. As the semester approached its end, I needed the rest of the money so that I could do my exams so I told God, it is one day to my papers I have no fees He was silent, but on the very day of my exams I managed to do my papers without making the payment because He favored me. I finished my first year and I saw His faithfulness. I remember at one point, I needed to pay fees and it was an exam day, I reminded God about my fees and told Him I will be out of work at exactly five and I needed the money at five on the dot and Faithful God at 4:59 I got a written cheque with my exact fees.Glory to God!. Now, all this while I have realized that the Lord has been teaching me to have faith in Him at all times. 

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen( Hebrews 11:1). An illustration, faith can be likened to lightning which can see through fog and mist, it is the reality of things not yet comprehended but you can see them at a distance meaning it sees the invisible, believes in the impossible and receives greater. Faith is of so much importance to a Christian its product is vision to see the unfathomable. The Word says walk by faith, not by sight(2nd Corinthians 5:7) meaning faith in itself can give you sight or rather it is sight in itself.

 See, Bartimaeus was a blind person who used to beg for money and he realized Jesus was passing by so he kept calling on Jesus, when Jesus walked up to him and asked him what he wanted, he said he wanted to see. I love the response of Jesus, '' Go, your faith has healed you". Jesus would have just said, I heal you or recieve sight but He said it was his faith that healed him hence faith yields the extraordinary and pushes through amidst the impossibles, that is why the opposite of faith is fear, when it is impossible and you have got fear then you hit the bottom and lose it, but when faith comes in, you break through what looked so huge. I get encouraged because Jesus said that even faith as tiny as a mustard seed can move mountains( Matthew17:20) so all I have got to do is to have faith and put in action however much my situation looks large, faith without action is dead( James2:26). If Bartimaeus did not continue to shout calling Jesus Son of God, he most likely could have stayed blind. Faith precedes action and action is a pre-requisite of faith. Meaning faith cannot work out without action and action without faith is impossible that is why Peter in Matthew 14 begun to sink because he was walking on water by faith and doubt came in, he could no longer walk without faith.

Another thing I realized is that it is very impossible to please God without faith( Hebrews 11:6). This is because faith in God comes in because by ourselves we cannot work things out and so the glory of God only comes in when by ourselves we cannot. Now, with God nothing is impossible having such an assurance then we have to take Him at His Word and have faith in Him totally. English dictionaries say that faith is complete confidence and trust in someone or something. Now, if a lady had a relationship with a man then they both should trust in each other to sustain their relationship and if by any chance any of them looses trust in another then the relationship bends and can eventually fall. This is similar to our relationship with God we have to trust in Him because from the very beginning we recieve salvation by grace through faith. So God needs us to have faith in Him and in whatever He puts us through. The very reason for this is because all things that come our way are there to prove the genuiness of our faith of greater worth than gold( 1st Peter 5:9). We should then have faith in Him who is in us greater than him in the world.

Faith in God is something we possess supernaturally, it is a miracle. It amplifies what grace multiplies. Faith is believing in God, trusting His plan and purposes for you, it rests not on carnal wisdom but on the promises of God that are yea and amen and it focuses on God. Faiths greatest enemy is disbelief and fear and its super advantage is believing and possessing the impossible. With faith, you will wait on God no matter the situation, you will begin a journey taking the first step even when you cannot see the whole staircase. Faith yields the impossible which cannot be attained via human wisdom and strength and works. All I have seen teaches me to trust God in what I have not yet seen.

 Authnetic faith is therfore not in believing in God. It is believing God!!
